Yury's involvement in music began at age 5 playing the piano. His professional career started in 1981. Yury has entertained before wildly diverse crowds - from small clubs to the fanciest hotels in major cities of the world; from the Middle East and Europe, to the wide variety of styles in America. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, he has performed with such noted celebrities as Maxine Nightengale, John Novello,Tamara Gvertzeteli (of Russia) .

In 1993 Yury founded the band/production company - Sharp Cats which has been performing non stop in New England area ever since. From 1993 to 2003 he taught guitar, piano, voice, ear training and music theory at The Jeannie Deva® Voice Studios, Boston, where he was a senior instructor. He was hand chosen, and personally trained by Jeannie Deva in her unique and highly effective vocal method. During that time he also instructed at the North Shore Community College, Boston. Today Yury teaches through his Boston based studio Shenkar Music and Music 4 All.

For over 30 years as both a performer abroad and in the United States, and as a teacher of music, working with hundreds of students, Yury has developed a unique program that enables his students to learn to read music, play piano, play guitar, sing, and play bass competently.

He has developed an ear training program that addresses this important skill, and is designed for absolute beginners to professionals. This program is of particular interest to vocalists seeking to enhance this training along with their voice lessons.
